TFT Bulletin #14 | April 8, 2026

Within the liturgical calendar, this TfT Bulletin arrives in a time recognized as the Octave of Easter. Though you may already be familiar with the Octave of Easter, this season is newly discovered to me. (I came across this during my Lenten exploration of stained-glass depicting Christ’s crucifixion.)

The Octave of Easter is an eight-day period that begins on Easter Sunday. These eight days are sometimes referred to as little Easters as the purpose is to extend the recognition and celebration of resurrection joy beyond a single day. Within some Christian traditions, there is accompanying liturgy and worship including singing the Gloria throughout the season.

Glory, glory to God. Glory to God in the highest.
Glory, glory to God. And on earth, peace to people … people of goodwill.
We praise you, we bless you, we adore you … we glorify you.
We give you thanks for your great glory.
Lord God, heavenly King, God almighty Father.
Lord Jesus Christ, only begotten son
Lord God, Lamb of God, son of the father.
You take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
You take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer.
You are seated at the right hand of the Father … have mercy on us.
For you alone are the Holy one, you alone are the Lord.
You alone are the most high, Jesus Christ.
With the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father.
Amen.

I like the idea of extending the joy of the resurrection. The Octave of Easter feels like an important practice coming out of Easter as we turn the corner towards the busyness of the end of the school year. I invite you and your students to join in the participation of the Octave of Easter.

A Sustainable FLEx at Fremont Christian School

A common question in TfT circles is this: “Do I do a different FLEx every year, or can I do the same one?” Sound or feel familiar? We are excited to share one possible response to this question. Dena DeKryger-Mathew, a 3rd/4th grade teacher within the Spanish Immersion program at Fremont Christian School, launched this FLEx a couple years ago that continues to be sustained by new 4th grade students years later. Dena‘s Deep Hope is Vamos a una aventura juntos para aprender, crecer y explorar la Palabra y la creación de Dios. / We go on an adventure together to learn, grow, and explore God's Word and God's World.

Not only is the FLEx centered around eco-sustainability, but it has also been sustainably fashioned for both teacher and school.

FLEx Cards: Celebrating Cairn Christian School

At Cairn Christian School, students are actively practicing the Throughlines of servant working and community building in meaningful, authentic ways. In Stacy Kok’s Jr. and Sr. Kindergarten FLEx, students explored how they could share God’s love at Christmas through their five senses, discovering simple, tangible ways to bless others. In Jer Kingma’s Grade 4 FLEx, students extended those same throughlines by forming ongoing relationships with residents at Shalom Manor, embodying God’s love through presence, care, and connection. Together, these FLEx experiences invite students to see themselves as people who actively join God’s work of restoration in their communities.

Opening Circles with the Throughlines

Today’s Opening Circle resources are a collection of readings on God Worshipping. Worship can be expressed in countless ways, far beyond singing or prayer, so consider offering more than one reading to explore with learners how any activity done in God’s name can become an act of praise. Providing multiple entry points into this Throughline will deepen learners’ understanding and invite them to recognize worship not only in formal moments, but in all the moments woven through the ordinary rhythms of their lives.

God Worshipping: Learners extend, both in daily tasks and in deliberate times of praise, their words, actions, talents, and thoughts in awe and celebration of God who is worthy.
