TFT Bulletin #4 | October 15, 2025

My colleague Cheryln Lai, secondary teacher at Surrey Christian, shared these poetic lines on her whiteboard:

While it wasn’t my first exposure to these words, they are sitting with me longer and deeper this time. I kinda love them … and I kinda don’t like them … because they make me realize that I spend most of my time with my shoes on, even feeling smug because I took the time to eat the berries.

How often am I blind to the possibility of a whole different way of being?

I suppose these lines get at the deepest potential of our Christian Schools.

I kinda do love them.

 TfT Instructional Coaching Intensive—November 12-14, 2025

We’re grateful that November’s Instructional Coaching Intensive is completely full, with 160 participants from across the TfT network and from around the world—Christian educators coming together to learn, grow, and laugh.

Last year, we had a few last-minute cancellations, so if you are regretting your decision not to attend, I suggest registering for our wait list.

For those confirmed, you will receive an email within the next week with all the details to help you prepare for our time together.

We have already begun planning for our 2026 Instructional Coaching Intensive, which will take place at … 🙂 on November 11-13, 2026.

More great partnering opportunities with ACSI

Earlier this year, we shared that a micro-credential through ACSI is available to Christian school educators who complete the TfT training and a specific evaluation process. I am excited to share that our partnership with ACSI continues to deepen as they will also allow the TfT training and implementation process to fulfill the Biblical Integration component of the ACSI Christian Philosophy of Education requirement.

Further, as TfT is an ACSI-approved CEU provider, teachers and administrators can earn CEUs through their TfT training. ACSI has created this document to help schools navigate the necessary processes for making these opportunities available for their schools.

We are deeply grateful to ACSI for their ongoing partnership with CACE and TfT.

Spanish Resources for Teaching for Transformation

For the past few years, Amanda Albright, TfT’s Director of Learning, has been partnering with both Nicaragua Christian Academy and ANIJA in their TfT implementation journey. These implementation journeys catalyzed some very rich conversations (e.g., how exactly should we translate language like Throughlines, Storyline, and storyboards into Spanish?) and resulted in many Spanish-translated TfT resources that we have made available on our website. While some of our Spanish immersion schools have already enthusiastically discovered them (see image below), we wanted to ensure that everyone was aware of these resources.

FLEx Cards: Celebrating Byron Center Christian School

For this Bulletin, we feature two stories from Byron Center Christian School. In Brook Veldkamp’s preschool class, students grew in their roles as Earth Keepers as they positively impacted schools and libraries by partnering with Books for Africa through their Reusing, Recycling and Reaching Out FLEx. In Michael Roskamp’s 8th grade PE class, students designed a Pickleball Playbook aimed at teaching more about the game while encouraging students and teachers to “strive to glorify their Creator with their body and health.”

These two stories span the grade levels of BCCS, revealing that all students, regardless of age, can do beautiful, transformational work that informs self and shapes the world.

Winter Semester Masterclasses

Acting on your feedback, we are excited to announce our first-ever offering of masterclasses during the school year! Like our summertime masterclasses, these virtual gatherings will provide a rich opportunity to take a deep dive into TfT practices and to collaborate with other teachers across the network.

Different from the summer masterclasses, these offerings will be more spread out to allow time for Committing to Try between meetings.

We are offering a masterclass on the core practice of Throughlines and one on the essential practice of storyboards. Masterclasses will gather at the following times:

  • Jan 13, 4pm PST
  • Jan 27, 4pm PST
  • Feb 10, 4pm PST
  • Feb 24, 4pm PST

Opening Circles with the Throughlines

We continue in our series on opening circles that highlight the Throughlines. The featured activities anchor the Creation Enjoying in God’s Story:

Creation Enjoying: Learners delight in God’s qualities, eternal power, and divine nature through what He created.

Here you will find recommended readings for elementary and secondary learners, as well as a liturgy that uses Scripture and a collect from The Book of Common Prayer.
